Good Value, 2010-09-09
I used this to mount a 50 inch plasma TV and it worked fine. The metal seems lighter than mounts being sold in well known stores but they cost about 5 times as much. To me the extra heavy metal isn't worth the difference in price. Once mounted to the wall this is sturdy mount. It is rated for 165 pounds and the TV I mounted weighs 52 pounds so there is a wide margin for error. I think stores put a big price tag on the mounts they sell thinking people who just bought a $2000 TV won't hesitate to buy a $150 mount. Nice try.....but saving $120 helps pay for the TV.

Pros: Solid construction, no sharp edges, parts well organized, free shipping.
Cons: Sparse installation instructions led to massive headache.
Details: This TV mount arrived a week before the TV was delivered, so I had ample time to read through the instructions and figure out what I needed to do. It was immediately apparent upon inspection that this was a solid mount that was very well put together. The steel feels heavy and everything is well polished to avoid cuts.
The real headache was in the installation instructions. While it was written in plain English, the instructions were very sparse and the diagrams were poorly done and not very helpful. If you do not have standard studs in your home (16" or 24" apart) then you will have problems as you are forced to use non-standard oval holes on the wall plate that I suspect were not designed for that purpose.
The mount claims installation to be tooless but it requires a drill with a 3/16" bit, a 1/2" wrench, preferably a socket wrench with an adjustable hinge, and realistically a stud finder. The manual actually suggested using a thin nail and hammer to probe the wall until you find the stud, which is the main reason why you're not going to get your deposit for your place back. A magnetic stud finder will save you a lot of grief.
The other thing is that the manual provides absolutely no guidance on where the TV footprint will land prior to wall plate installation. As you can imagine, once the holes are drilled and the big bolts screwed into the wall, it might be rather frustrating to discover that your TV won't land exactly where you want it. Having this in mind, I spent a lot of time putting the TV on a lot of boxes of varying sizes just to make sure I had the positioning right. The arm brackets can be adjusted up or downwards but this doesn't give you a whole lot of flexibility, especially if you have a "small" TV (like my 42") and you'd prefer not to see the brackets protrude from either the top or bottom.
I feel that for professional installers familiar with the product, this item is a cinch. But for the non-mechanical engineer, you will not be a happy camper if you don't normally own a lot of tools or aren't handy around the house.

CHEAPER THAN DEPARTMENT STORES, 2010-09-06
Had a "video guy" suggest items (with prices) that I should purchase from him. I took that list and went shopping on AMAZON and saved lots of buck$. Now, just about everything I want to purchase is checked out on line BEFORE I BUY. I am continuing to save money and could not be happier.
